We've tried many automatic boxes. Littermaid about four times with mechanical problems, messy upkeep etc. Scoopfree was more expensive but we were certainly tired of the break downs and odor problems were frequent.
The Scoopfree works well if you don't have too many cats. Otherwise you need to purchase the trays more often and they run $15.00 plus. We have one cat now that urinates a lot and our trays are good for about 45 uses (on counter). Each cat or cats will use it up differently. The only time I smell mine is if I've not been watching the counter and it has been there just a bit too long.Best to watch the counter and change it after the same number of times. No boxes of litter to buy. No scooping. No emptying trays. Just throw away and replace. Sybel hasn't shown any problems with the sounds. It's quiet and I rarely hear it.

Pros: I forget that it's there for days on end. There is a counter and you can learn app. how many uses your can will go before you need to change the tray. No scooping. Little litter spreading.

Cons: If the store runs out of the trays, as ours has, you are up river without a paddle. After several complaints from many consumers this hasn't happened again.

Although this is a great idea, my cats were afraid of it after hearing it run the first time they used it. Luckily I kept the other litter box downstairs to make sure they'd use the new one. They never used it again after the first time. Maybe I just had scaredy cats!

my friend got this. I was thinking about it because I had seen things on it and it interested me. now I will not purchase it because they said it wasn't all it was chalked up to be. they didn't find it easy at all. it didn't seem to work like it should.

my son had a self cleaning box for his cats and while it worked great and they did not have to clean the box daily.; it got clogged up and than broke on them. they tried another self cleaning litter box and the same thing happened again.

Pros: self cleaning

I have dreamt of the perfect self cleaning litter box. Unfortunately, this isn't it. It may work really well, but my cats are so afraid of it I will never know. I guess the best litter cleaner will still be me.
