The ScoopFree Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box makes maintenance a snap.

March 29, 2011 8:41 pm | By Zootoo Editor CynthiaLo

Although fans of felines will do just about anything for their beloved cats, cleaning the litter box isn’t one of the most enjoyable tasks. But cat owners who have gotten fed up with seemingly constant litter box maintenance can rejoice with the ScoopFree Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box.

This clever contraption would be a great litter box even without the self-cleaning feature. The crystal litter that fills the tray effectively absorbs liquid waste, and also masks odors, and the tray itself is designed to be disposable – a plus for owners who are tired of cleaning boxes.

Of course, the ScoopFree’s main asset is the automatic self-cleaning feature. After your cat has conducted his business, the ScoopFree waits a respectable amount of time before raking the litter, almost magically scooping the waste away into a covered compartment.

Because the remaining litter stays fresh, the ScoopFree litter box allows owners to go longer between cleanings. Although the product’s directions recommend replacing the disposable tray every few weeks, during a trial run, it seemed as though the tray could have lasted even longer. Times between cleanings may vary depending on how many cats are in the household, but the ScoopFree can still help to reduce the inconvenience of keeping up a clean litter box.

In addition to the clear bonus of the self-cleaning feature, the ScoopFree litter box has other design elements to make your cleanup easier, such as a guard against leaking for cats who have problems with spraying and leaks.

Investing in an automatic self-cleaning litter box isn’t the least expensive option, but over time, you may find that the efficient, convenient ScoopFree is worth the price in making the process of cleaning up after your cat less stressful.

Pros: Reduces the time and stress of cleaning the litter box; crystal litter and leak guard help control spills and odor.

Cons: None.

No Joy

posted 5 years ago

I have dreamt of the perfect self cleaning litter box. Unfortunately, this isn't it. It may work really well, but my cats are so afraid of it I will never know. I guess the best litter cleaner will still be me.

Pros: Great Concept

Cons: It Scares My Cats

Friend got this

posted 5 years ago

my friend got this. I was thinking about it because I had seen things on it and it interested me. now I will not purchase it because they said it wasn't all it was chalked up to be. they didn't find it easy at all. it didn't seem to work like it should.

Pros: good idea

Cons: didn't prove to be great
