Petco Crystals Cat Litter

Petco’s Crystals Cat Litter is an effective kitty-cleanup product from one of the biggest pet brands in the world. The litter is composed of harmless silica shards that are designed for maximum absorbent ability, so your litter will always smell clean.

The handsome orange packaging has a nifty little chart on the back comparing it to other clay litters and clumping litters — two well-known varieties of cat litter — and illustrating how crystal litter is more effective than both. The silica quickly absorbs the wetness and odor of liquid and solid waste, and an 8-lb bag has some serious lasting power too — up to two months.

So how did the litter stack up on a test drive? My initial concerns about the small silica shards getting caught between cats’ paws were unwarranted. Our tester kitty marched around on the product like he had been walking on it all his life. Another aspect I was concerned about – cats consuming the crystal shards – was a non-issue as well.

The absorbent qualities that the packaging trumpets are all they’re cracked up to be as well. After only a couple of days, I found myself changing my cat’s litter less and less frequently.

Bottom line: The Crystals Litter from Petco is an excellent litter whose absorbent qualities are unmatched in other similar products.
