The no-rinse formula is recommended by veterinarians for daily dental care, and fighting plaque and tartar buildup. It will also control unpleasant breath which can be a sign of a more serious problem.

Four Paws Petdental Toothpaste maintains good dental hygiene - if your cat will let you use it.

December 7, 2010 1:04 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

If your cat is one of those rare, elusive felines who tolerates brushing, Four Paws Petdental Toothpaste is an ideal product for helping to control plaque - and the bad breath that comes with it.

Even having tried brushing our tester cat's teeth before (with mixed results), I was able to get a better handle - so to speak - on the cleaning routine with this product, which has a mild smell and seemingly inoffensive taste.

If your cat responds to the taste of this toothpaste, but not the long, slim Four Paws toothbrush, you might also try mixing and matching to get the product on your kitty's actual teeth. For instance, using this toothpaste with an alternate toothbrush, such as Bamboo Care's brush, or a finger toothbrush, such as the kind that Four Paws offers for dogs.

Before embarking on a hygiene routine with your cat, consult your vet to get tips on making the process more painless - and to make sure that you're brushing teeth correctly.

Pros: Does not require rinsing; mild taste for cats.

Cons: Cats may be skittish about brushing.

Cat toothpaste

posted 6 years ago

I tried this toothpaste with mixed results. I liked that it came with a tiny toothbrush but I found using a Q-tip worked easier. Charlie did not like the taste of this at all.

Pros: for cats

Cons: different taste

Smells like toothpaste

posted 7 years ago

The tooth paste is easy to use, especially with no rincing required. But neither of my cats will sit and let me brush their teeth. I do not think it is the taste, but it smells more like a tooth paste I would use than one I would expect my cats to use.

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: the cats do not like to get their teeth brushed

Iams ProActive Health Multi-Cat Chicken & Salmon Cat Food

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
