I have seen these at Trader Joe's in the past and thought to myself, "What a waste of money. Who would buy that for their cat?" I know that my cat loves to sit in cardboard boxes and in shopping bags, so I thought I was getting away with something by not bothering with this product. However, then I met a family of cats who have these scratchy boxes all over the house, and I couldn't get over how much they used them, more so than I saw my cat using her scratching post. I decided to try it out with my cat.

As soon as I set the box on the floor, my cat knew what to do with it. I put catnip on the cardboard and she went crazy in love with this thing. She flipped over on it, and laid on it for hours and hours. She wouldn't get off except to eat and use the litter box.

Because we put it near the sofa, she no longer feels the need to use the sofa as a scratching post. This is a big deal because she has an actual scratching post that she ignores in lieu of the sofa!! I am really happy with this product and will buy it again.

Trader Joe's double wide cat scratcher is lowest cost for maximum cat claw action. The cardboard lasts a long time for cardboard and the size is just right for a cat to plop him or herself on top of it and mark and scratch away. Catnip comes in a separate plastic bag, enough for at least several generous applications. The cardboard retains individual cat scents as well. My cats all use and love it.

I had such high hopes when buying this, I thought my couch would finally be safe from being clawed. But of course my cats are both brats and put their nose up when I gave it to them. My son, however, loves to use it as a boat for his trucks to travel on across the floor.

My cats not only use this as a scratching pad but also to sleep on. I have found that because of the sides on this that what the cats scratch out, stay inside the box instead of getting on the floor. I highly recommend these.
