Using the flea comb is a safe gentle way to determine if your pet has fleas. Simply backwards comb the hair and look for either any fleas or little black specks of flea dropings that come off onto the comb. To collect the fleas and dispose of them before they have time to jump off the comb onto your floor or else where, fill a container with soapy water and after each pass through the animals fur, dip the comb into the water. The soapy water will kill the fleas. This is a safe effective chemical alternative to flea control. The comb can also help remove and reduce any loose fur on your animal.

I like this tiny comb for removing fleas from baby kittens. You can't put chemicals on babies less than 7 weeks old. All you can really do is give them a bath and comb out the fleas. This works great.
