I have a male cat who would not stop peeing in our bed! We have had him since he was a kitten and this was always a problem. We did everything the vet said, lots of litterboxes, several different types of food, feline away (the plug in variety), and nothing worked. Finally our NEW vet enlightened us that male cats have a very narrow urethra (sorry do not know how to spell that) and that cheap foods were high in ash levels that caused crystals to form, and then peeing in inappropriate places for attention. He suggested a prescription food that would have cost us $3.50 a jar for our cat!!!!! We bought a few cans to get started ( and read the label) and went in search of a comparable food at a cheaper price. I found this at PetSmart, it has the EXACT same percentage levels as the prescription food and costs about $15.00 for 24 small cans. It is not with most of the regular canned foods, but in aisle with other higher end brands. Our cat has not peed in our bed since we started using it, and that is worth all the ruined linens and mattress covers! Plus best of all, our cat is much happier!

After 3 years of my adult male cat having been diagnosed with Urinary Tract it is nice to actually find a food that he enjoys eating, seeing as he has to have this twice a day, every day !

My only suggestion to Cat Food Manufacturers would be to make the Urinary Tract food flavors in something other than Chicken !

It would be great for the cats that have to eat this to have more than one option !

My 8 year old cat suffered a kidney blockage when someone in my family purchased dry food that was not pro-plan. After being in the animal hospital for a weekend and being sick for weeks after we switched both of our adult cats to the Pro-Plan Urinary Tract Health Formula. We have not had another problem with either of the cats since. They love the taste and it keeps them healthy. I would definitely recommend this to any cat owner.

My 6-year-old cat nearly died from a urinary tract blockage two years ago. My vet wanted me to put him on an expensive prescription diet of wet catfood. But my cat dislikes wet food and refused to eat the prescription food. At the recommendation of my veterinarian sister, I started him on the Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract formula. He hasn't had a single urinary tract episode since and seems to really like the food day in and day out. What more could I ask for: a healthy and happy cat!

Pros: good taste, healthful product

Cons: none that I've noticed

Pro plan line is the best Purina makes. I stand by their products and have had excellent experiences with them, especially the upper lines and specialty foods.
