These filters do help keep the water in fountain clean. When you change filter, you can really tell that the old one did its job. I have found them to be less expensive on Internet, than in local pet stores

I have the drinkwell and my cats love it. Princess has to have her fresh water. I can always tell when the filter needs changing because she will let me know by not drinkig her water. The filter really does do its job.
