Spa Select Kitten Cat Food provides a solid dry option for young felines.
August 4, 2011 1:47 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.
When you’re looking for a dry food for kittens, the choices are overwhelming, especially when considering smaller portions of adult foods as an option. Fortunately, the folks at Blue Buffalo make the selection easier with a tasty, nutritious entry into the kitten dry food market – the Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food.
The name “Spa Select” may bring to mind visions of kittens on a peaceful expanse of beach, or in the mountains, being hand fed pieces of fresh fish and chicken on a silver platter. The actual food is considerably more down-to-earth, but Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food still includes more healthful ingredients than your run-of-the-mill dry food.
Deboned chicken tops the list of ingredients in Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food, and a few vegetables and fruits make their way into the formula as well – carrots, sweet potatoes, cranberries, and blueberries, to name a few. The product also contains other healthful components, such as brown rice and flaxseed. And for your growing kitten, the list of vitamins and minerals is impressively long.
The taste of the Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food seemed to be as palatable to our tester cats as any dry food. The taste, combined with the well-rounded formula, makes Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food a solid option for young cats.
Pros: Good mix of healthful ingredients for kittens.
Cons: None.

This food is good food for a normal cat. And upon deciding to use it as it was declared a gluten free food, I discovered Barley was an ingredient. I have written them about this as Barley's protein is gluten laden. Unless they are processing the grain in a way so as to extract the gluten before including it in the food (which I doubt) it is NOT gluten free. It also contains barley malt...again not gluten free. I think the folks at Blue Buffalo need to get someone on their staff that actually knows what they are talking about when it comes to Glutens. I am a celiac and have had to live my life avoiding gluten so I think I am pretty sure what grains contain gluten.
Pros: Good Food
Cons: Can't think of any
