Kittens love to dine on our tasty chicken, and it provides the essential amino acids and vital nutrients they need every day. Hearty whole grains like brown rice, barley and oats will keep your cat supplied with the complex carbohydrates needed for energy. Whole carrots, sweet potatoes, parsley and cranberries contain phytonutrients that help your cat stay healthy. Naturally healthy and highly digestible, Spa Select is a delicious way to provide your kitten with the complete and balanced nutrition she needs every day. Made with LifeSource Bits that contain a precise blend of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants selected by holistic veterinarians and nutritionists. These include antioxidants and vital nutrients that have been shown to help strengthen your kitten's immune system, support her specific life stage requirements and protect her from the negative impact of environmental toxins. And, unlike other brands that add vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, LifeSource Bits are "cold–formed" to preserve their full potency. Some foods are heated up to 350° which means their added vitamins, antioxidants and nutrients can lose up to 75% of their potency.

Spa Select Kitten Cat Food provides a solid dry option for young felines.

August 4, 2011 1:47 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

When you’re looking for a dry food for kittens, the choices are overwhelming, especially when considering smaller portions of adult foods as an option. Fortunately, the folks at Blue Buffalo make the selection easier with a tasty, nutritious entry into the kitten dry food market – the Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food.

The name “Spa Select” may bring to mind visions of kittens on a peaceful expanse of beach, or in the mountains, being hand fed pieces of fresh fish and chicken on a silver platter. The actual food is considerably more down-to-earth, but Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food still includes more healthful ingredients than your run-of-the-mill dry food.

Deboned chicken tops the list of ingredients in Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food, and a few vegetables and fruits make their way into the formula as well – carrots, sweet potatoes, cranberries, and blueberries, to name a few. The product also contains other healthful components, such as brown rice and flaxseed. And for your growing kitten, the list of vitamins and minerals is impressively long.

The taste of the Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food seemed to be as palatable to our tester cats as any dry food. The taste, combined with the well-rounded formula, makes Spa Select Kitten Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Cat Food a solid option for young cats.

Pros: Good mix of healthful ingredients for kittens.

Cons: None.

Okay

This food is good food for a normal cat. And upon deciding to use it as it was declared a gluten free food, I discovered Barley was an ingredient. I have written them about this as Barley's protein is gluten laden. Unless they are processing the grain in a way so as to extract the gluten before including it in the food (which I doubt) it is NOT gluten free. It also contains barley malt...again not gluten free. I think the folks at Blue Buffalo need to get someone on their staff that actually knows what they are talking about when it comes to Glutens. I am a celiac and have had to live my life avoiding gluten so I think I am pretty sure what grains contain gluten.

Pros: Good Food

Cons: Can't think of any

Good cat food

My cat likes pretty much any chicken flavored cat food, if she's hungry.

Pros: I never thought 'durability' was a trait of cat food

Cons: none

Iams ProActive Health Multi-Cat Chicken & Salmon Cat Food

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
