Dental Diet -- Large Morsels But Much Loved
posted 4 years ago
One of my cats has loved Dental Diet since he was a very tiny kitten. In fact, before he was even big enough to bite the morsels -- they are more the size of dog food morsels than the typical cat food -- he wanted to eat it. He'd literally take them out of the bowl, chase them around, etc. So, now that he's 3 years old -- Dental Diet is his absolute favorite food, though he's been offered any number of dry foods through the year.
I was relatively comfortable feeding it, as it is higher in protein that some other brands I had looked at.....but now I'm reading that cats really shouldn't be eating dry food. Most dry food is loaded with carbs, etc. etc. I'm not sure how I will ever get this cat to make the switch. That's why I rated it a 3 -- the cat loves it, I'm just not sure he should be eating it. And, to address the "dental" part of it, seems that concerns about tartar are not really addressed by dry cat food, because it's simply not hard enough to really do much AND many cats don't really chew dry food anyway.....
Pros: One of My Cats Just Loves It
Cons: Is it really good for him?

Big morsels, but cats like it
posted 4 years ago
The kernels are quite large--they look like dog kibble. I would never have thought cats would eat it. My sister had two cats that loved it, so I gave it a try. Despite the large size, I would say this is the dry food of choice, from a cat perspective.
It is interesting that other reviews have commented on it being good for fresher breath. I hadn't really thought about that.
Pros: popular with cats
Cons: byproducts added

Great treat
posted 4 years ago
We feed this to our cats as a treat. They get a few everyday so they think they are getting something special. It really does help with the tartar build up on their teeth. They don't require having to have their teeth cleaned as often.
Pros: great for the teeth
Cons: none

Its always good to address your pets needs, whether it has to do with age or just general hygiene. Friskies is a good solid brand of cat food and with this specially orientated type of food to help their teeth you can't go wrong.
Pros: good product
Cons: none that I can think of

Great for teeth
posted 5 years ago
This food is great for helping maintain cats' teeth. Our first cat loved it and she had perfect teeth even at age 16. Our new cats, though, prefer other food, so we've had to find other substitutes. Nothing is quite as good.
Pros: Helps teeth
Cons: Some cats don't like it
