Excellent holistique nutrition

posted 5 years ago

I work for a very knowledgable pet center called Natures Cove that has been in business for over 10 years. The owner himself has been in this business for over 30 years and has taught his son as well as his employees about pet nutrition. When I first started working there I had received a cat that needed my care. She is my fiances cat and at the time was on a cat food called Special Kitty. My poor cat has a very sensitive stomach and was vomitting everyday, having hairballs, and her coat was not at its best. Once I switched her over the Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul Adult, within a week you could notice the difference in her coat and her overall health. She does not have any hairballs and has not vomitted in over 2 years. Her coat is gorgeous but you could not see that before.
In this food there is no corn, no wheat-gluten, no preservatives, and above all no fillers or meat-by-products. I urge all pet owners to look before they leap into a cat or dog food from wal-mart, shop-rite, or any other department store.

Pros: Holistique brand with a great price.

Cons: Has a little more fat than most products.

Our cats like this

posted 5 years ago

As cat foods go, this is a favorite with our two. There is nutritionally room for improvement, but it is way better than most of the grocery store brands - I don't mind feeding this to our cats and that don't mind it either. :-)

Pros: Our cats like it

Cons: Room for improvement

Affordable, High Quality Food

posted 2 years ago

All of my cats love this food! I originally bought it because I had a diabetic cat that needed to be on a high protein food and I was also wanting to get the rest of them away from corn in their diet. After much trial and error, this was the one food that all of the cats liked. No more upset tummies was a huge bonus! I mix half-and-half the adult and senior hairball varieties and they just love it. Even though my cats range from 6 mos. to 13 years they all do well on this food. And for premium food with no by-products it's really affordable because it lasts a long time.

Pros: No corn, large affordable bags, cats love it

Cons: None

Works great for my kitties

posted 4 years ago

We have all kinds of issues in the household: allergies, throwing up after eating, struvite stones requiring surgery, & hairballs. I started all of mine on this with excellent results. My 14yo & 4yo who has had bladder surgery to remove stones are both on the Senior Hairball formula because it has the best pH balance for the bladder problems. Its much cheaper than the CD she was on & she likes it better. We've used the kitten formula & now all the others are on the regular adult formula. The allergies have improved & there are fewer vet visits. Everyone's coat is shiny & softer than it was before switching to this food. Even my vet has noticed the difference.

Pros: Less throwing up, Eating less, Shiny coats

Cons: Hard to find

Smells, tastes like human food, only dry!

posted 4 years ago

I'm a weirdo: I taste my cats' food. I can't help it, I've always been curious about stuff like this. I remember one time I had a nibble off a Beggin' Strip just to see how close to bacon flavor it got (the answer: not all that close). And as far as the dry cat food I've tried goes, Chicken Soup is the closest to authentic food. It has a flavor like chicken stock or chicken fat, particularly the aftertaste. It's not incredibly hard so cats with sensitive teeth shouldn't be too bothered. And the ingredient list is refreshingly familiar, with chicken meat and meat byproducts at the top instead of various grainy fillers. I'd recommend this for anybody looking for a good "base" kibble for their cats, whether they're picky or not.

Pros: Appetizing scent, fair taste

Cons: Not much variation in shape/size of kibble
