Blue Spa Select was an excellent choice

posted 6 years ago

I was desperate. Most of my cats wouldn't eat wet food, though I knew it was best for them. But a couple had obvious skin allergies, and I knew I HAD to get them off Science Diet, which is mostly corn. I shopped around, compared ingredients, and finally decided to try Blue Spa Select Indoor formula dry cat food. At first, a couple of my cats were slow to accept it, but by mixing it half and half for awhile with their old food, they grew used to eating it. Eventually, they began to eat Blue Spa only. Little did I expect the wonderful results. The 2 cats with skin issues, including one that kept overgrooming and getting bald patches, were healed up completely and have never had problems again. Two of my other cats used to have gingivitis and had to be on antirobe 5 days a month every month, but once they started eating Blue Spa, their gums healed, and they have never needed antirobe again--in over 2 years!!Another of my cats would ever so often get runny eyes. No more of that. Several of my cats (I had 11 when I started them on Blue Spa) were binge eaters. The problem was that they also purged! They'd eat huge amounts, and then vomit up the food whole. Since switching to Blue Spa, that never happens anymore! They eat less food than they use to, because the Blue Spa is digested more easily, and they are better satified. That also means less poop in the litter box! The poop isn't as stinky either--I guess because it is better digested. On top of everything else, my one chubby kitty boy has lost just a bit of weight, without having to go on a diet. I am very satisfied with Blue Spa Select Indoor dry cat food, and I recommend it to all my friends.

Pros: No corn, wheat, soy or byproducts

Cons: Takes a little while to get some cats to change over

Great Catfood, Good Value

posted 6 years ago

This food is great! I was feeding them Innova but the store I buy it from is a bit out of the way. I saw an ad for Blue Buffalo and my mom and I decided to check out the website. I ordered a free sample, but it took a while to get here so I had told them that and they ended up sending me like 10 coupons for 2 dollars off any size bag. I was like.. WHOA. It even came with a personal letter from a customer service rep. I was REALLY impressed. This company is fantastic. I still like Innova, but Blue Buffalo is cheaper and more convenient. My cats really love the food. I think the price is a great value. I see people buying crappy foods like Iams for 20 bucks a little bag, but then I go to petsmart, use my petperks & coupons and get a BIG bag of BB for about 22 dollars. This is a great deal. I would recommend this food to anyone and everyone! The canned food is a bit expensive though (surprisingly). They have so many varieties. I feed my cats Indoor and it keeps them so healthy and they love the taste.

Pros: Fantastic Ingredients, Very Good for them, Customer Service is great (I get coupons often!!) Available at Petsmart

Cons: nothing.

Not good for all cats

posted 3 years ago

I originally had my cats on Purina Indoor Cat Chow with the kitten having a can of wet kitten food on the side, but after reading the ingredients I decided to change what they were eating. I then went to Nutro Natural Choice Indoor Cat food but I didn't like how big the pieces of food were. I have three cats, two males (one an adult and one a kitten) and a female who full grown is only 6 lbs. So, I was a little worried about her having issues chewing those pieces. She'd be sitting at the food bowl still eating way after the other two left.

I kept the bag of Nutro and bought a bag of Blue Buffalo Spa Selects Indoor Cat Food. The pieces were small and the ingredients looked good for my cats. Once I fed the food to them though, I had nothing but problems. The female liked the food and did great on it. She'd been more active, her fur looked even better than normal. But my older male who always had soft, beautiful medium length black fur started shedding like crazy, getting dandruff and vomiting up his food every once in a while. My younger male started having horrible diarrhea.

I'm now switching them back to Nutro. I'd much rather have my female cat spending a bit more extra time chewing her food then my males reacting that way to their food. It seems that for some cats, it's a great food but not for all. If your cat is doing just fine on the food that it's on, I'd be wary of switching them to Blue.

Pros: Minx loved it

Cons: Micro started shedding like crazy along with vomiting and having dandruff, Monk got diahrrea

This food get an A+

posted 6 years ago

I was looking for higher quality nutrition for my cat, and had tried several brands without the success i had hoped for. My cat is very finicky about food, from the taste to the shape of the dry food. If the pieces are too big, he wont eat. I tried this food, and he loves it! The best part is that I know he is getting a food with high quality protein and nutrient rich vegetables. Blue Buffalo food also has these 'life source' bits in it, which are vitamin rich morsels specially processed to retain higher levels of nutrients. I definitely recommend this!

Pros: natural ingredients

Cons: if anything, slightly higher price
