Petsmart recently started carrying this brand of food. I have a cat that is diabetic and has pancreatitis. He is very picky and has a very sensitive stomach. I tried the wet food (chicken) both organic and regular. He loves the regular, no go on the organic. The texture is very fine and it is a light color. His favorite food is chicken baby food the texture of this food is close to that not quite as fine but close enough to please him. The color is light enough that if he does vomit it doesn't stain really badly. I feed this and dry Core but may try the dry of this brand also. My other cat loves it also and does seem to be leaving fewer hairballs around. Definitely a good find.
Pros: fewer hairballs and vomiting
Cons: availability

My cats enjoy it & are doing well

when we found 4 kittens in a briar patch, we found ourselves in need of a good cat food that would work for all life stages, since keeping Gracie, the adult cat, and the kittens on different foods / out of one another's foods would be virtually impossible. we discovered that By Nature Adult Dry Cat Food is actually approved for all life stages and is sold in bags as large as 17 lbs. it contains no corn, no wheat, no soy, no by-products. it does contain some grains (barley, brown rice, oats), but they are whole grains, and overall, the ingredients are pretty impressive for a kibble type food. and while the price will seem high if you're used to buying grocery store brands of pet foods, it's actually not *that* expensive as all natural cat foods go (about $34 for a 17-lb bag where i shop). they also offer an organic options, which is, of course, more expensive. we decided to give the non-organic Adult Formula kibble a shot.
for starters, all of the cats love it, the kittens and adult cat alike. Gracie, the adult cat, had previously been on Purina and frequently had problems with hairballs and throwing up. even though the By Nature Adult Formula kibble isn't specifically called a "hairball control" formula or anything like that, Gracie's hairball problems went away immediately with the By nature food. i know that it's a kind of running joke, that cats throw up frequently and constantly hack up hairballs, but all 5 of our kitties are doing very well with the By Nature. in fact, a while back we made the mistake of trying to switch them over to a less expensive brand of cat food that also seemed to have a fairly impressive ingredient label (Premium Edge). i don't know what made the difference, but no sooner than i started switching the cats over to this other brand, we started finding hairballs and throw-up on a very regular basis. needless to say, we switched them back to By Nature promptly, and they are once again doing quite well with it.
also, on the plus side for buyers, By Nature does have a loyalty program. you can visit their web site to request that information be mailed to you. how it works: "To qualify for the free bag coupon, simply mail ten (10) By Nature™ Dog or Cat Dry Formula UPC's as proof of purchase". "All ten UPC’s must be for the same product and same size bag to qualify. Only dry foods products are eligible for the Frequent Buyer Program." it's not a bad deal...plus they include a couple of coupons with the info they send in the mail.
so, overall, the cats like it, they're thriving on it, it's the best cat food we've ever tried. it's hard to beat for the price.
Pros: cats like it, few hairballs, loyalty program
Cons: price!
