For post-surgery care

posted 7 years ago

After having emergency intestinal surgery earlier this year, my cat had a series of staples running the length of her belly. She tends to pick at anything that she thinks shouldn't be there, so my vet gave me the Ejay Saf-T-Clear Elizabethan collar to use. The collar is stiff, clear plastic, and it has a series of snaps along the short edges to join the two sides. The snaps are a bit difficult to join, but this is an advantage because it means the cat can't remove the collar easily. The fit around my cat's neck was perfect, and the clear collar made it easier for her to use her peripheral vision if she needed to. She did have a bit of difficulty in eating and drinking at first, but she quickly became accustomed to the extra weight around her neck where eating and drinking was no longer a problem.

Pros: it worked well for my cat and it wasn't easily removed

Cons: i sometimes got in the way of eating or sleeping

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
