Nice to have, but I think I would spring for the electric one
posted 5 years ago
This was passed along to me by a fellow pet person. It looks like a flat flashlight and runs on four AA batteries. Just as an aside it has a diagram for inserting the batteries and points out that the flashlight portion will work even if the batteries are inserted incorrectly, but the UV portion will not. It does do a nice job of detecting broken glass, but it also gives a lot of "false positives"--lint and stuff shows up. But, I guess that might be a matter of getting used to it. It is nice that it has a flashlight (they call it a torch) on it too. So, you can immediately switch to the flashlight portion to see if it is lint you have detected. The room needs to be very dark to use it. And, although I would prefer the electric version for the greater power of the UV light if I were using it to check out the bed spread at a hotel for yucky things they say are there, this is a nice thing to have on hand.
Pros: small and lightweight
Cons: not very powerful

Detect invisible urine, feces, semen & more with this tool
posted 5 years ago
Darken room. Turn on light and shine on area that's in question. Can detect ringworm, broken glass, scorpions, counterfit bills, blood, saliva and more. A must have for everyone.
Pros: Effective tool just like CSI has. Detect almost anything with it.
