Feliway plug-in to calm introduction between resident and new cats

posted 5 years ago

I splurged for two Feliway plug-ins after bringing home a new female shelter cat (very small, front-declawed). My resident female and male cats (1 slightly larger and 1 quite larger, respectively) were not getting along with the new cat, despite my having given the new cat her own litter box, feeding area, and room, and despite my practicing other "slow introduction" techniques. SOMEONE had been spraying--albeit erratically. I couldn't tell which cat. I *still* can't tell which cat. I can't tell, in fact, if the Feliway mitigated the behavior or not, though it's worth noting that the spraying occurred less frequently when the Feliway plug-ins were new (and more full of the special formula). I would try this again--I will buy refills. New cat is a ferocious little loner; she's not likely to change. I have to hope the Feliway leads to a livable level of tolerance.

Pros: Diffuser is very easy to plug-in

Cons: Can't tell if behavior has been improved

Plug it!

posted 5 years ago

The plugin was suppose to last a full month but it probably only lasted about 3 weeks. One cat is more aggressive to the others so we thought this might help calm him down. He did sniff it and we noticed just a slight change in him right at first but not long-term. We felt it was too expensive to use on a monthly basis for no better benefit than it delivered.

Pros: No scent that humans could smell

Cons: somewhat expensive to use monthly

Feliway plugins

posted 5 years ago

We bought this for our shelter cat room hoping it would keep the cats calm and help control the spraying. We didn't notice any difference. Always having to keep our costs down, we found it was too expensive also.

Pros: easy to use

Cons: didn't work for us
