Great product, helped us a lot!

posted 6 years ago

We have 5 cats in our home... We didn't have any problems introducing the first three cats we adopted (male)... when we adopted the fourth (female), things were ok, but she never really integrated with my husband and i or the other cats... she basically bonded with my sister and only her...

Eventually my sister moved out, and shortly after that we adopted our fifth (male) cat...

I think it was too much change for Nikis to all of a sudden not have my sister, have a new cat in the house and wanting to be around us... she wanted to be with my and my husband, she is very sweet and loves to be petted, but the other cats are also always around...

So, not long after, spraying started... she picked 2 places in the family room couch and just kept on doing it...

We asked our vet what could be done, Nikis was obviously unhappy and we wanted to change this... he suggested we give her away... which we didn't accept...

We started reading books about cat behavior, starting with "cat vs cat" and "think like a cat" and this is how we learned about Feliway... we immediately added Feliway as part of the other behavioral changing exercises and changes we were doing...

We used plug-ins in each room, plus we use the spray version on the couch...

it was a lengthy process, but she came back, we noticed changes after a couple of months... shortly after that, she rarely sprayed and slowly she started claiming a place around us without being so bothered/angered by her brothers...

We used feliway this way for over a year... at this time Nikis even sleeps in the bed with us and several of her brothers! she hasn't sprayed in ages! she purrs! she plays! she is happy :D and we all are happy too... right now we have gone about 5 months without the plug-in feliways in every room, we only use the spray sometimes in certain areas...

I firmly believe that Feliway in combination with behavior modification techniques and a lot of patience made the change...

Pros: available on spray and plug-in formats...

Cons: expensive for continuous use...

Calms the savage beast

posted 6 years ago

I use Feliway in my home, and we use at the clinic where I work. it is very effective as a calming agent, and can also work to resolve urine marking behavior issues. It's so easy to use, just plug it in and you're good to go.

The only problem is, it isn't 100% effective. For whatever reason, some cats simply do not respond to the scent. When that happens, you almost always have to resort to medication.

Pros: Has the ability to resolve issues before they arise

Cons: Doesn't work for all felines

Has saved my cats life

posted 7 years ago

I have a spraying cat who is also aggressive to everyone but me. He tolerates my husband.
I have used Felway for the last 5 years along with Comfort Zone plug in's.
You must follow the directions along with working with behavior modification but this Feliway works if used per directions.
This product has literally saved Marvin's life.
It is a GREAT product for stressed and spraying cats.

Pros: Very effective

Cons: none that I have

Helpful if Your Cat Is Urine-Marking

posted 6 years ago

I used the feliway spray to address urine-marking one of my cats started doing after I adopted a 3rd cat. Just sprayed a little bit on areas he'd been marking and ir helped (within 4-6 weeks) eliminate the behavior.

Pros: effective

Cons: pricey

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
