This is an automatic water dish with a water pump and filter system. The filter catches hair and other small debris and keeps it out of the water. Because it is placed on the floor however, there is still a tendency for bits of food and "stuff" to accumulate in the bowl. Also just the nature of water means it gets slimy if not cleaned regularly.

This does encourage my cats to drink much more water than when we were using regular dishes.

Love the fountain! Our cat loved his water to be "moving" and would kick the water bowl around the room spilling it all over. Since purchasing the pet fountain, no more wet floors! Only drawback is that hair often clogs the pump intake. Simply to remedy, but would be better if filter system were redesigned to filter before entering the pump. Still highly recommend this unit!

My cat always loved to drink out of the sink, so in order to preserve water, we invested in this fountain. The cat loves it and is constantly drinking!

Cons: The filter does not work as well as I excepted

My two older cats (14 and 16 years old) would not drink out of it because of how noisy it was. My younger two cats (both 5 years old) were okay with it. I don't think it was worth the money spent on it.

We used ours in FEMA trailer. It was always getting dirty, but the trailers are hard to keep clean. I've put it away until the house is done to try it again. The cats seemed to love it.
