The New Encyclopedia Of The Dog

This book is a really good reference. There are breeds in there I have never heard of. There are very clear pictures of each breed, and within each description is typical behavior and characteristics, history of the breed, and a sort of guideline for what owners would be ideal. I also really like that at the beginning of the book it discusses canine development and teaches a bit about breed identification based on subtle physical features.

Pros: Literally hundreds of breeds listed, a fair amount of info on each breed

Any pet owner or anyone interested in dogs will probably find this one a must have for their animal book collection. I look at mine over and over again.
