Harrison's is excellent
posted 5 years ago
This is a premium pellet - highly recommended by our Avian Vet. Both our Black Cap Conures enjoy it. In the morning, we mix it with a little ABBA 1300 since we think there is still a place in a bird's diet for seed. We change to straight Harrisons when we serve them their fresh vegetables in the early afternoon. In the eve, they get a bit of fruit to finish the day with their Harrisons. When they are out of the cage (minimum of 4 hours in the day) there is always plenty of live wheat grass or dandelion to nibble on. Still the backbone of their diet is Harrisons. They eat a good teaspoon to a teaspoon and a half a day. They do seem to enjoy it. One baby is almost 3 years old and the other is almost two. Our Vet says they are two "very healthy" babies. We believe Harrisons plays a big part. We're told it is expensive, but we really don't think it is when we consider how much better it is for our conures. Considering how much our bird's add to our lives, giving them the best nutrition is the least we can do.
Pros: Organic, low FAT, balanced, Avian Vet Recommended
Cons: None that I can see

Highly recommended!

My vet recommended Harrisons for my quaker. He is very healthy now. His liver enzymes and cholesterol are now in the normal range. His feathers look shiny and he loves the taste. Pellets are less messy and more nutritious than seed. Highly recommended!
Pros: Very nutritious!
Cons: A little more expensive than the rest
