Not sure if they'll like the mineral block

posted 5 years ago

My kids just purchased the orange Beak Block mineral block for our parakeets. So far, they haven't been interested but I expect it will take a while. After reading the other reviews, I"ll keep my fingers crossed that they will go for it. The product looks like it should be pretty good--13 vitamins and minterals. It attaches to the cage bars with some simple twist ties. Feels soft enough that they should be able to bite into it. I've heard conflicting reports about whether parakeets need mineral blocks or not, but what do we have to lose? I'd rather have it in there than have them need it and not have it.

Pros: easy to attach to cage; looks "peck-able"

Cons: none yet

What a coincidence

posted 6 years ago

I was just downstairs looking for some toys for our new adopted 25 year old Amazon. I was going through the bird supplies (I have a couple of large tubs, and a large dresser full of them) and came across one of these. I remembered that I had put one in every cage for every bird in the house and not one of them touched them.

Having just read Cassie's review, maybe I will take the one I have downstairs, put some peanut butter on it and see if one of the birds will start pecking on it, and once having started will continue. Maybe that will work.

With the calcium it would be good for the Greys.

If that doesn't work all I can say is none of my parrots, and I have a bunch and had more, would touch them.

Pros: Nice concept due to the calcium

Cons: Not one bird would touch it.

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
