Patience is Key!
posted 5 years ago
It can be a very enjoyable thing for your bird once they get used to it. By nature, birds are going to be very suspicious of anything wrapping around them, but if you pair the experience of the harness with a reward (treat, playtime, etc) training will become a snap.
Pros: It's a very safe way to travel outdoors with your bird
Cons: The whole concept is very scary to a bird at first, but success can be attained with a LOT of positive reinforcement

Great for going outdoors
posted 5 years ago
I have had success with some of my birds and none with others. My amazon baby I got it on and he would continue to pick at it until we got outside. Then he was happy to be able to go outside and would forget about the harness.
I have had other birds that will fight you about getting it on. This particular brand is too involved in putting it on. I have read of other brands of harnesses that are easier to put on the parrot so they have more success.
One of the main things is to let your parrot get accustomed to it before trying to put it on him. Hang it over or beside his cage so that it becomes something that is in his natural surroundings so he isnt scared of it when you begin to put it on him. Another tip is to only touch him with it etc as if you are playing a game and as he gets used to each step you can go a bit farther in putting it on him until you have finally gotten it all the way on him.
Pros: good for taking your bird outside with you
Cons: very hard to get on

I wish I could use this!

I have had no success using a harness on my parrot. He absolutely hates it. Not only is it a struggle to get him in the harness, but once it's on all he does his chew on it. Great idea, but not for my bird.
Pros: great idea
Cons: my bird hates it

I had seen these around, but never got one untill a week a go. I thought my macaw would go nuts with one on, but she did great. I just wished I got one sooner.
Pros: Real easy to use
Cons: not any

There are better options available

there are too many clips involved and its difficult to put on. it tends to weigh the bird down and there isn't much provided as far as training your bird to use it. i prefer the aviator harness it is far superior
Pros: price
Cons: hard to put on and its heavy
