These are very handy to have around if you hatch a lot of poultry, like I do. Different age groups can have their own waterer and it makes it so much easier to deal with small hatches and different age groups. These are cheap and clean easily, and don't take up much room to store from one year to the next.

I used one of these for parrot chicks I was weaning, but there was also newspaper in the bottom of the brooder, and the newspaper would slide into the drinking area and wick out the water making the cage wet.

Better to use when newspaper or paper of anykind is not being used in the pen or brooder.

Pros: Holds quantity of water with large area for drinking

Cons: If paper gets in it it wicks the water out
