Good for lounging
posted 5 years ago
My husband and I have a very sedentary cockatiel. I'd like him to to be a little more active, but he's also very timid. He's afraid of most toys, swings, etc. He's even afraid of some types of perches! He likes to climb, so I thought I'd try a ladder. Well, he isn't afraid of it. In fact he loves his ladder. However, he uses it more as a lounge chair than as a piece of execrise equipment. He climbs partway up the ladder, leans into the ladder, and roosts for little bird naps. At least he enjoys it, though not in the way I intended. I worried about durability because the ladder is pretty flimsy looking. But we've had the ladder for probably close to 2 years now and it's just now starting to show some serious wear from where the cockatiel chews on the rungs. It was the best purchase I've ever made for the timid cockatiel. He's not getting any more exercise, but at least he's happy.
Pros: can fit in variety of cages, fun for birds
Cons: bird will eventually chew it to pieces

Birds love to sleep there
posted 4 years ago
We have a ladder high in our cage at an angle. The birds love to go up there at night and spend the night together on the ladder perch. Very practical for creating a little network of perches/toys. Mine has a gritty material on the rungs of the ladder to help their feet and nails.
Pros: fun, creates more space
Cons: none

Must Have This Product
posted 4 years ago
This is one cage product that is a must. My sun conures practically live on these ladders. I also have a special needs bird and this allows her to get around easier. They also love to chew on the rungs so I have to replace them, but I find them indispensable for my birds cages.
Pros: Very useful
Cons: none
