TTouch and my puppy

posted 5 years ago

I had one session with a TTouch practitioner and saw such a pronounced effect on my 11-month-old puppy that I immediately ordered the book to learn more. It's easy enough to follow the book and actually begin to use the techniques. And, in fact, using the techniques is the only way to learn it, because you must be sensitive to your dog's reaction and adjust your methods accordingly.

My puppy is doing less barking and less whining. And there are more moments when he can rest calmly with the family without needing to be restrained in a crate or on a tether.

I want to know more! There are so many things that are listed in the book as problems that can be addressed by TTouch. It just makes sense that your dog can learn better and behave better if he is calmer. And I could see my dog become calmer right before my eyes in one session.

I'll update this review when I have had more experience with the method, but I am highly optimistic that this is an important tool that I will use with my own dogs, with shelter dogs, and it works on other animals and humans too.

Pros: good instructions, good photos, easy to beginning using techniques

Cons: takes time

Very useful guide to an interesting technique

posted 5 years ago

This book is a great guide to learning the T-Touch technique for calming dogs. There are photos, diagrams and explanations to walk you through it. I found it engaging and informative. Our shelter had a T-Touch demonstration recently, which is what made me want to explore this book. I'm going to start using this technique on my own GSD and on our shelter dogs.

Pros: pictures, diagrams & explanations

Cons: none
