I have had Anitra in my library for ages. We have her first version of the book as well. It was the first cat book I had ever read that really made sense, explaining things in a way that I could remember when I needed them and help me make a good home for my generations of kitties. It helped immensely when my little ones became seniors and were more needy. I have given many copies of it as gifts and have always heard great reviews. She comes by her knowledge first hand, having worked as a cat groomer for a cat veterinary clinic in NYC for years. She has a holistic approach without being preachy and gives solid logic for all her methods, which she has in fact real-life experience with. She also gives just as logical and caring information on more traditional approaches, with explanations that are actually quite clear and usable. The best part about her writing is her obvious love for her subject and her various feline acquaintances and family members, not to mention her gentle humor. I read it from front to back at first and now refer to it as needed. Highly, highly recommended!

I bought this book when it first came out and found it very useful especially the information on pilling. It's interesting but I would much rather trust the advice from my vet who does take a holistic approach. I rated this just average because it is in serious need of an update.

Got this for 25 cents at library sale rack. Easy to read, & some good suggestions for giving varous meds to the cat with less stress for both. Conversational style, not too technical.
