Great Little Book
posted 4 years ago
This is an excellent book -- I would encourage cat owners to check it out. I was first introduced to Linda Tellington-Jones' techniques by my horse trainer. My horse has since died, but many years ago, when I first purchased him, he was extremely hard to handle. By using different tTouches on him and following other suggestions Tellington Jones had for horses, his behavior gradually improved. I don't know how the touches work, but they do! This book, devoted to tTouches for cats, is easy to follow. I've tried many of the touches on my cats. Most of the cats seemed rather uncomfortable with the techniques at first, but they all gradually relaxed. My 13 year old recent adoptee likes the "circles" so much, that she will literally fall asleep while I'm doing them -- and I do think they have helped her calm down and adjust here in her new home.
Pros: Easy to Understand How to Do the Touches
Cons: Her Techniques DO Work -- I Just Don't Understand HOW

A must read

Linda Tellington-Jones is Dr. Doolittle. The things she is able to do with animals are amazing--she has a gift, without question. I don't think she actually conducts seminars/training sessions anymore as she is somewhat older. But, she is unbelievable to see. She works with all types of animals, but it seems the bulk of her work was with horses. She does, however, have several books/videos for companion animals. The touches she uses are easy to learn and the books have nice diagrams of what each touch should look like. She has suggestions for just about anything imaginable--calming, relaxation, aggression, a cat that was urinating outside of the box, etc. I have never been able to achieve the fabulous results that she does, but I still think the methods are helpful--I try to do circles every day.
Pros: A gentle way to deal with a cat's behavior
Cons: Mere mortals don't seem to get the fantastic results

Good explanation of TTouch for cats
posted 4 years ago
T-Touch is a technique for modifying behavior in cats by a type of touch that is similar to massage or reiki. There are photos and explanations to walk you through it, however the version of this book for dogs has more informative diagrams. I was expecting this book to be the same.
Pros: many photos
Cons: not as many informative diagrams as dog version
