Hello to my animal loving friends:
It is with the most profound sadness that I tell you of the loss of my "best horsey friend" in the world, and her name is Patience.
Patience has been with me for roughly 20 years and she knows me as well as any human being does. My friend and confidante, kind, willing and loyal, we had so very many "conversations" over the years that, had they been taped, I may have been committed as looney. :-)
Today I'm thinking of all of you who have lost a treasured friend and I'm trying to pray that your pain has already or will be eased and that you will find peace and comfort. Other than that, I'm lying on the couch in a virtual coma of sadness. :-) However, it will subside and I will always be indescribably grateful for the time that Patience and I had together. In addition, with the extraordinary help of the most talented veterinarian I have ever worked with, we were able to give Patience the chance to be a MAMA. Her 7 month old colt, Connor, is amazing and through him, Patience will always be with me.
I believe that I've shared this poem here before, but just in case, I'll copy it again.
THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It
is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who are maimed are made whole again. They
play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person on Earth. So, each day they play and run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.
God Bless you all and God Bless our precious animals!
