Homeward Bound - Bo-WOW!

This happy dog at The Petropolitan in Dallas seems to know of my rep at "treat lady."
Whew. We dodged the nastiness of Hurricane Ike during my book tour stops in Dallas. Sunday, the skies cleared and the winds subsided, enabling me to join my sister, Deb and her three dogs, Gracie, Jake and Maddie on a l-o-n-g afternoon walk. We then did a sister tradition of playing H-O-M-E-R basketball (our version of h-o-r-s-e named in honor of our belated dad). Picture two 50-ish women - neither taller than 5'2" shooting hoops! Well, I must declare than even though I can occasionally hit a miracle three-pointer, my sis was accurate from the short/medium distances and cleaned my clock - twice. Poof! There goes any hopes of switching careers and playing in the WNBA for me! :)

I am heading home to be with my furry fab four - dogs Chipper and Cleo and cats, Callie and Murphy for a few weeks before I head to Kauai for a HUGE book signing event. About 500 are expected at the Kauai Humane Society's annual "Love a Dog Day" event where I will address the islanders and sign copies of my book. If you are on Kauai on Oct. 4 and are getting blase about surfing and sunning, come on over and join us for this tail-wagging, grrrr-eat event! Aloha!
