Wow, what a ride!!

As I said in my posting comments under the Shelter Makeover video, this has been an amazing journey for our shelter and me personally.

We as a community have come together, from schools to business and all animal lovers from all walks of life. We have formed new bonds and strengthened old ones.

I have learned so much from this site, on products services and especially the news stories. My heart breaks every time a read a story about an abused or abandonded animal but my resolve becomes stronger to do more to help. I'm sure this has been the reaction of so many others and that alone has been worth it.

This contest has brought so much attention to our causes surrounding the animal community and especially shelters that it has already had an amazing positive effect all across the country, and here in our small town.

Our shelter may be small, but we reach so many way beyond our area. Our director, Sheryl has formed relationships with so many of our surrounding partners in the cause to rescue, heal and find loving homes for our animals. She has begun new programs where needed, and expanded existing ones all with very limited funds.

As a volunteer I could not be happier to be affiliated with an organization that puts their animals first, and treats them like our own. I have a place in my heart for every animal that passes through our shelter, and for our size there are so many. I know all our volunteers feel the same way. When one of my friends decided to adopt a dog from Second Chance I told her that when she does, she will fall in love with the place and want to volunteer, and sure enough she does!! There's such a positive feeling of hope here at our shelter even with all the suffering we see, and with the limited resources, we know we are doing so much good, and we know we are giving so many the SECOND CHANCE they deserve!!
