Why the henderson Humane Society deserves the million dollar makeover!

The Henderson Humane Society deserves the million dollar makeover for many reasons. First of all, The volunteers are very commited to the animals and finding them loving homes. There is nothing that one of our volunteers wouldn't do for an animal. That includes coming in while we are closed so that someone can meet with a potential adoption, giving up there only free time on weekends, and spreading the work about our shelter. That brings me to my next point. Our shelter is in desperate need of help! Since we recieve no government funding we run on donations only. This leaves little money for repairs and upgrades that are needed for the shelter. We do not have enough room for the amount of animals that are dropped off, found, and surrendered. We don't have an outside exercize area for the dogs to run around in. Many of the dogs can't get outside during the week except on Dogs night out and Petsmart adoptathons. This means when they do get out in front of someone interested, they act uncontrollable and crazy, turning that person off. If they had adaquate exercize they wouldn't act that way when they were let out. There has been no hot water at the shelter so if it is cold we can't give the dogs bathes. This makes it harder to get them adopted. They see them as dirty. They don't think about taking them home and getting them cleaned up. It is all about the presentation. We need some fresh paint and more room. We need an outside place for the dogs to run and people can see how the dog they are interested in is outside of a cage or on a leash. This can help get them adopted. The cats deserve a bigger cat room. Maybe one where they don't have to be in cages. Where they can roam around and have beds, scratching posts, toys, etc. We need this makeover! I think that if the shelter was fixed up and had this makeover it would help potential adopters want to adopt. I think we would get more volunteers. The animals would benefit in so many ways from this. I can't even list them all. Please give our animals a chance! They need this.
