All the shelters that have entered this contest deserve our admiration, gratitude, & whatever support we can give because they take care of the animals that need care in our communities, often cleaning up messes caused by careless, thoughtless, & cruel people. The staff does the work none of us can do. And Butte Humane Society does this work eloquently.

This contest has brought our little community together in a time of hardship--high unemployment, foreclosures, homelessness, & so much more. All of these community issues make things so much worse for the animals. And Butte Humane Society has stepped up their efforts to involve this community in the work the shelter does. Further, BHS has stretched the support this community & the shelter can give by helping shelters in communities even more hard hit than ours, sharing resources & taking animals whenever they can. In all my years of rescue & with all the shelters I've worked with, I've never seen anything like it. I've never worked with a more dedicated, knowledgeable, communicative, & caring shelter staff. The shelter is a place the community can enjoy visiting & actively supporting because it's a place of goodwill & compassion, a place where that goodwill & compassion really makes a difference in the lives of animals & people in our community.

No matter what happens with the contest results, Butte Humane Society should commended for the astonishing work done there every day!!
