What would you do differently?

We have seen a lot of comments since the top 3 were announced from a number of people who assumed that the shelter with the most points would automatically be finalists.
I'm just curious - what would you have done differently if you had understood that all the points did was get you into the top 20 and didn't guarantee you the million dollars?
