Picture an elderly widow with her best friend - an overweight 15 year old poodle named Bingo with heart problems resulting in a bad cough. When the widow died, Bingo is lost - his trusted friend is gone and who will care for him, especially with the health problems he had? The widow's family entrust this guy to the Washington County Humane Society in Slinger, Wisconsin. While many would have given up on Bingo, the people at Washington County Humane Society saw something in his eyes that say be patient - there will be someone out there who will love me until my last breath. Three months passed and everyone seemed to overlook this elderly, overweight, depressed little dog - but the staff at Washington County did not give up ... in their hearts, they knew the right family would come along. Thank goodness they held on because that is when we found Bingo and he became a member of our family. We knew our time would be too short with him but Bingo made sure to give us every ounce of love he could in the wonderful year we had him. He taught us about unconditional love, patience, understanding aging and enjoying slow walks, soaking up every bit of nature we could. We are better people because Bingo was in our lives. We can never thank Washington County Humane Society enough for not giving up on him. The love and compassion they show the animals entrusted to them is amazing and this make-over can help them help so many more animals - and in turn help so many more people learn the true meaning of unconditional love.
