Thank you, Zootoo.

Even if my shelter doesn't win the makeover, I know that a shelter somewhere in this country will win - and that makes me really happy. Yes, I think my shelter deserves to win - our plumbing is shot and it's impossible to fix without tearing down our current shelter building - but I know that there are lots of shelters out there who also need new facilities. The shelter makeover prize will allow the winning shelter to save the lives of countless animals in their area, and I think that's something we can all feel great about.

Thanks, Zootoo!

I'm behind you on this! If OPHS should win the makeover (I'm sooo praying), I feel that this building is beyond repairing, especially considering it's age and the cost to update the old wiring, plumbing, insulation, heating capability, etc. The old plumbing and wiring is way outdated. Portable heaters on extension cords - I don't think so! Small, concrete dog spaces, I don't think so! Small cat cages in an "add on room" heated with a portable heater on an extension cord, instead of open cat rooms with cat trees/various other furniture - no! "Meet and cuddle rooms" are needed. An open area where current dog owners could introduce their dog to the possible adoptee. I think it would make more sense to just demolish the existing building and start from the ground up. Maybe the tiny building could somehow be updated to use just as office space. I sooooo want us to win and know we sooo deserve help to make our facility more animal and community friendly! Not to mention that the staff could use more efficient surroundings, but I know that's not important to them. The animals matter. The better the shelter appears and really IS, the better treatment we can give our animals! The better it LOOKS, the more animals that will be adopted. Would you want to adopt your animal from a shelter that looks, well, less than. . .
