I was stunned to learn that one of our staff members lost her husband to cancer this morning. He had been sick for awhile but seemed better over the weekend. We are a close knit family style staff and are all heart sick for our Dawn as we know how devastated she must be. Tears are common in our work as we fundamentally aren't built to see someone, two or four legged, experience great pain. Unfortunately we can't afford to grieve properly as we only have a few days to prepare for the ZOOTOO visit this Sunday. So we will go to the funeral on Saturday and put our sadness to the side so we can rally on Sunday to show ZOOTOO how much we care about helping our animal brethern. Sometimes you don't have the luxury to let personal feelings get ahead of the cause. We will grieve later. I know Dawn will understand.
