Puppies..Puppies...Puppies...
At the DRHS right now we have a TON of puppies of all shapes and sizes! Looks like Spring has started early this year. We are always getting in new animals, but the past 2 weeks have brought us so many more animals than we are used to this time of the year. If the break between fall and pring keeps getting shorter and shorter we are going to have no room for anything! We already have to take the proper precautions in the winter because of the unbelievabley low temperatures. If we continue to take in the amount of animals that we have been taking in then we are going to be done for. We turn away nothing. We will take anything (sick or injured) and this also plays a big role in how much room we have. With the waiting period for strays, we are required to keep the animals for a min. of 4 days and if they are injured we hav no choice but to put them in the kennel in a room in the back somewhere. DOn't get me wrong we have an isolation room for dogs, however we do not have a nursery. So all of the underage puppies that we get, or all of the Pregnant dogs that we get in, take up all of the space for isolation.
With all of the problems and equipment disfunctions that we are currently experiencing at the DRHS, it would be best to just start over form scratch. Please help the DRHS makeover their shelter!
