People Who DIDN'T Get A Makeover

Whether I like to admit or not (to myself), my shelter did not make it to the Top 20 list for a makeover and I am not happy about it! My initial drive to become a member of Zootoo seems somewhat failed… yet, I must say I have become a better pet owner (as in terms of understanding my pets’ needs) though this journey. That helps!

However, that is not a reason good enough for me to remain an active member of this community. I want something more – something more to help. Not to sound like a humbug or similar but I did come here for the HELP attribute. Otherwise, I could just make another AOL community or Facebook group for animals/pets. THE UNQUENESS OF ZOOTOO TO ME IS THE HELPING MENTALITY. People here genuinely care about animals and take it upon themselves to help.

I will continue to be a HAPPY Zootooer because I just heard about the new program they are doing – Rescue Group Sweepstakes (http://www.zootoo.com/rescues/ ) – as long as it helps the animals I’m all for it. Heard in a buzz, that there will be small weekly prizes soon. All the more reason to be an active Zootooer.
What say ya’ll?

Hello there. I'm sad to hear your story. Not all could place in the top twenty, there are hundreds of shelters that did not. I just heard last evening that the shelter I worked for did place, and will be considered with the twenty for what is determined the best prize for us. I am realistic too, the odds of us being number one are small. So we have to be prepared to make it somehow on our own, though we've given up our lives in recent months for this dream. Even if we were to get no money for our shelter animals in the end, there has been good come from all this. We've had some wonderful press in local newspapers and on the radio! More of our region has become aware of our shelter service, and aware of the needs of the animals we serve for them. And I've been researching this website more since the contest ended too. There are helps on these pages!!! The Shelter Planners of America provide a wonderful service that we may find help from, and the Pedigree company has many ways they are helping, we've even received some checks from them. There are websites I was never aware of before, and there are services on websites I knew about but only now am becoming aware of all they may have to offer us. I've signed on to support a rescue now, too. And before this I didn't even know there was a difference in shelters and rescues/sanctuaries. And I too am a better pet parent now because this contest has made me stop and spend more time with these wonderful creatures I share a home with. So all in all, the benefits to me and to my local shelter are great. I remain thankful for all of this. I certainly wish you and your shelter all the best in the future; and I want you to know that I intend this as a positive message to you, one that says I care about you and your shelter - I care about the animals we all serve across this nation, and I do hope you'll remain connected here because I believe more good has to come of it.
