Life Changing Experience

I know this sounds a little bit idealistic and cliché--but this experience has changed my life. I can't pinpoint the exact moment or the exact event--it's just....different. My perception has changed--I'm a little less cynical (okay, a LOT less cynical!) and I truly believe that if enough people with the same vision and the same passion work together--anything can be accomplished. I have to admit, I had some doubts when I first started making the phone calls about the Zootoo visit. They said they would be there...but would they really be there? All of my doubts and fears vanished this morning as I saw the people, the children, the pets--all of them walking down the lane to our shelter. There was excitement in their eyes and passion in their voices. There was no doubt in my mind--they were here for the animals. I couldn't wait for the Zootoo team to arrive. I knew they would be blown away. I had told them the night before, at dinner, that we had an incredible community and they were about to experience exactly what I had tried to explain to him the night before. The screams, cheers, yells, and yes--even some tears. At some moment, at some time during today I made a vow to myself--I will do everything within my power to make a difference, to change lives. On the days when it gets hard--when it seems too difficult and it seems like I don't have the strength or energy to go on--I will remember this day. The day that gave me strength, energy, enthusiasm, and the realization that anything can be done. If you can dream it, you can do it. Thank you Marietta, we couldn't have done it without you.
