Four Our Small Shelter - Liberty Humane Society - the Zootoo experience has been priceless!

I again just wanted to thank everyone from Zootoo (not sure if you are ever up on these sites reading...hope so) for making the Zootoo experience for a lot of small shelters PRICELESS.

Today was a perfect example. For the first time ever, Liberty Humane Society partnered with Mayor Healy of Jersey City and his Cultural Affairs team to offer the residens of Jersey City free rabies, free microchipping and free nail cutting.

I along with the rest of the staff woke up early this morning not knowing what to expect. Would anyone come? Would too many come? Not having any benchmarking, we were flying blind.

Well, we got to City Hall around 9:30, and folks were already lined up. To make a long story short, the day (in my opinion) was a home run! We had over 400 dogs get crucial vaccines and microchipping. Many had their nails clipped but truth be told I think that was asking alot of the owners and the dogs!!!!! What dog likes their nails clipped!!!

The Mayor and his entire team were there to greet the residents and their dogs and to give a Proclamation to Liberty Humane Society declaring April 19th Pet Day in Jersey City.

The event was such a success that there is talk of having it twice a year.

This would not have happened without the Zootoo contest. So, even if we don't win the million, our experience has been priceless.

We have a stronger relationship with St. Hubert's; a stronger relationship with the Mayor's Alliance of NYC; a stronger relationship with City Hall and their offices; and a day in Jersey City in which we will celebrate all pets.

I am going to bed a very contented person....we are all tired, but nonetheless very happy with the Zootoo competition and so proud and thankful for all of our supporters.

Our wonderful dogs and cats at the shelter and all the local animals are the true winners, and that is all that matters.

I'm way out in Morris County, but I have been supporting Liberty Humane through the contest. I had to go with the New Jersey shelter that had a good chance of winning. I was rooting for you!
I try to make it my business to know as many shelters as I can as I have been working on a national campaign as the Shelter Liaison chair.
I have recently purchased a Condo in Jersey City and I have noticed what a dog friendly place JC is. I think Liberty Humane can take a lot of credit for that !! Congratulations to all of you!!

Hi Donna. Be sure to stop by and visit us when you are down in Jersey City. We are right across the street from the Liberty Science Center right before you enter the Liberty State Park itself.

You are most welcome!!!

It's great that you've established new ties and strengthen old ones. I think that is the best thing about the ZooToo contest - people connecting with other people for the sake of the animals. Sounds like a wonderful event, and glad you had a good turnout. Congratulations!

That is wonderful to hear! So many more people are aware of all shelters, large and small.I'm sure that will help all the animals.

Most definitely a hearty thanks to everyone that has helped us in this contest along the way. Because of you, we were able to secure $10,000 for Liberty Humane Society.
