I spent the early morning helping the cleaning crew with the kennels before the zootoo folks arrived at the shelter. I am a new volunteer at the organization. From the day I had my volunteer training, I have been amazed by the level of dedication. I think I started about a minute after we joined the shelter makeover challenge, and it has been a crazy marathon ever since. What has continued to impress me about DAWS is that aside from its cleaning staff,the shelter is run entirely by volunteers. Any business would be ecstatic to have a work force as enthusiastic and dedicated to their jobs as these people who spend much of their free time working for the well being of animals. While the animals at the shelter are waiting to find their forever homes, I think they are all very lucky to find themselves in the care of DAWS. So, needless to say, when everyone came out this morning- dog alumni, kids, families, people who heard about it and just thought it was the right thing to do- I continued to be amazed.
