With tears in my eyes, I look at these dogs and I feel honored to give them refuge. Late last night we got 5 dogs from a shelter that completely burnt to the ground. The only survivors were the 14 in the outside kennels and the 2 that were left in a box at the gate. My heart felt heavy as I looked thru their web site choosing 5 because I wanted all of them. I looked in their eye and felt so sad for them.

Dena our full time volunteer stepped up and drove 30 mph on back roads for 2 hours each way to rescue these babies. When she got back she opened the door and barren a chocolate lab came galloping thru. I squatted down and said come here boy, he ran straight in to my arms and gave me a big kiss. If never in my life I ever receive another thank you, this one hug and kiss will never leave my thoughts. You don't get a lot of thank yous in this business, so when you get one like barren gives it fills you worried heart with hope. There's no telling what these dogs saw, heard or felt just a few short nights ago. Today some are scared, confused, and grateful. Last night I stayed up till 3:40 am posting them on pet finder, making cage cards, and just staring at them sleep gracefully. I thank God for the few that made it from that horrible fire, and that I was given the very humbling opportunity to help them find a safe home. No dog deserves to be put in a shelter and these poor dogs didn't deserve to watch their friends burn up in a fire.

We will begin our search for thier happy forever today. I have my fingers crossed!
