Last night I woke up in the night thinking about Shadow. He's an elder gentleman cat, about 12 or so, and he has been so snuggly since we got home from a 9-day trip. While we were gone, his grandfather fed him daily. And yes, I sent an expensive email from Dominique asking my parents and daughter to call occasionally and leave Shadow a message on the Answering Machine while we were gone, so he would not be too bored. We left on one light and TV for his entertainment too. When we got back, he'd hatched out a batch of fleas. I combed 5 off of him. So, I'm thinking that at his age it would be good to find really gentle flea protection. I'm reminded of Donella Meadows, who tried vaccuming the fleas off of her pets. That wouldn't work for Shadow. Combing, and occasional damp washcloth wipedowns with flea shampoo is the best I can figure out how to do. That's why I'm going over to the product reviews, and visiting our great natural foods store in Tahlequah (Oasis) to see if the solution is pennyroyal, or some nice kind of collar, etc.
