I have done a lot of cat rescue and have volunteered at a couple of animal shelters. It never ceases to amaze me how many people want to give up there pets to a shelter and how many are breeding in the street. There are just not enough homes for all that need them. The government must get involved and make spaying and neutering a law. Until all the homeless get homes without the fear of euthanasia there should be a moratorium on breeding. I surely doubt that Siamese, Maine coons, Pit Bulls, German Shepards and other common breeds will become extinct. There are these and many other breeds at shelters and breed rescue groups. It is shamefull to think that in progressive society that we are killing millions of unwanted animals on a daily basis. Out government must take stps to remedy this national disaster!
