Polar Bears have been listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Good first step...BUT, there are a lot of loopholes for oil companies and other polluters. AND their habitat wasn't protected and designated as a "critical habitat". I've read that they should have been listed as endangered instead of threatened because it would have been a stronger protective standard for them. Something has to be done. The Artic ice is melting faster than the worst predictions. The Polar Bears are already starving, drowning and declining in numbers. The government needs to provide full protection. Protection for the Polar Bears is protection for us. There needs to be changes and they need to come quickly. We've got to be better to our environment. If each of us did something...even if it's just recycling cans, or carpooling, or using less electricity...one thing or many things, TOGETHER we can all make a difference. One day we're going to wake up and find out it's too late. Just thinking...
