We acquired our last dog 15 years ago from what I thought was a reputable breeder and turned out to be closed down by the authorities for poor conditions, etc. Happily, our puppy grew up to be a great dog and just died a couple of months ago. She was a breed, but if I ever get another dog, it will be a shelter animal or a rescued breed. Too many dogs need good homes.

One of my sweet dogs was rescued from a puppy mill. She has slowly adjusted over 5 years. But it took lots of patience and TLC. There has to be better condions for puppies and puppy mills need to be shut down. Please watch Oprah and see how you can help.

oprah is great but Lisa Ling is a wonderful reporter!

If anyone can get this ball rolling Oprey can and will.

Way to go Oprah, I am so glad she is doing this, I know I will be watching and hope others will also it is so important that people learn about these puppy/kitten mills.
I have seen this kind of stuff on animal cops and it makes my heart break to see the conditions these poor animals are in.
I dont like it at all, these places should all be found and be shut down for good.........

I have first hand experience with a puppy mill. I had no idea that is what I was dealing with until I went to pick up the pup! The condition were so horrible I could not leave the pup there. I knew I was being ripped off completely. I paid the money anyway to rescue the dog. The poor dog ended up being so horribly in bred I could hardly train it. Long story short I did turn her in to the authorities I don't know what ever happened to the lady but it was a nightmare I will not forget.

Kudos to the Oprah show for doing this. She is very well respected and watched by millions! I will be spreading the word.

I hope people will watch tomorrow and realize how bad they are and that it needs to be stopped. It is a very cruel thing they do to those animals.

Its wonderful that someone as powerful and influential as Oprah is taking the time to talk about this matter. It horrifies me that puppy/kitty mills are even still around. People need to be educated about this subject and help to stop those cruel places.

If I had to pick one celebrity to help educate and inform the world about puppy mills, it would be Oprah! I'm not even a big fan of hers, but I respect and appreciate her for doing this. Like someone says, she reads a book and it sells a million copies...I'm so glad that a high profile celebrity such as Oprah is taking on this cause! Thank you!

I cant believe puppy mills have been going on as long as they have, hopefully this will get people to start taking action and shut these places down!

Thank you for this info. I will pass the word and grab my tissue. I get teary eyed just thinking about it's content.

This is great. I'm setting my DVR right now.

I read about this yesterday and did the crazy thing to write Oprah an email and tell her how big of an impact this could have. She reads a book and a million people buy it. And what an impact adopting a shelter animal will have on her life. I am so excited about her doing this...it will reach so many people that otherwise would not consider shelter animals. Go Ms. Winfrey!!!!
