no obama pets

I just researched this topic and discovered that Barak Obama has no pets! I don't know how interested he will be in animal issues if he becomes president.

I am always leary about people who don't have pets or don't like animals. I attribute animal skills to their character. I won't rush to judge, but I would like to know why Obama does not have pets (did he in the past?)

Is there a reason he doesn't have any? Does he like animals? If he doesn't like animals he will not support any animal causes or legislation we need. We need stricter punishments for abusers.

I agree with comments about his family being pretty busy right now. Any White House pets are likely to be taken care of by staff anyway, not the family. Frankly, I'd rather the President do his job (& what a horrendous job that is) -- I'll take care of companion animals. I have a feeling I will have a lot more fun!

I do not like people that do not like pets. If you don't like pets then how can you like children.

I was upset over the information I have gathered about Senator Obama & family on if they have a pet or not, let's just say they have had years to get one, or contribute to an organization, if they don't have one now, they would only get a pet for the WRONG REASON!. My concerns re: Obama is that for 20+ years has attended this church with the Reverend Wright’s anti-white theology. On the church’s website it says the congregation subscribes to what it calls the Black Value System, which is described as a disavowal of “our racist competitive society” and the pursuit of “middle-classness.” That is defined as a way for American society to “snare” blacks rather than “killing them off directly” or “placing them in concentration camps,” just as the country structures “an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.” There is more, but I am very surprised at everything I am finding our about this church...and now I do wonder what the fate of all the american citizens will be - and our furkids...this is a very sad time for the United States our people and our future. What a mess. And yes this church is real: Trinity United Church of Christ , and yes, this is what the church communicates, and this is the same church and Pastor - Senator O...has been active with for over 20 years.

The Obama family is pretty busy now. Maybe they will get a dog later. Hopefully
the daughters will be loving and care for it. Mrs. O. doesn't appear to be an
animal lover.

I never liked Obama and plan on voting for John McCain. John is a real animal lover... I really believe he will be a bigger help to animals and environment than Obama or even Hillary.

I agree with Erica and Lauren. Owning pets does not make someone a better or worse person. There may be many factors as to why someone does not have any, and it can be personal, meaning none of our business.

I would rather someone not own a pet if they don't have the time to care for them and give them the best life possible.

I do not have a pet, however, I love animals and support many animal causes. Not having a pet does not automatically mean that you are not interested in animal topics.

I'm not a McCain supporter, but he certainly has the most animals. He even has ferrets and turtles! I do hope Obama gets his daughters a nice rescue puppy for them to love.

Personally, I think it takes a special person to own pets.

I have been following the Political campaign for the last few month, so I catch the candidates speaking in regards to various topics. I am a BIG Obama fan, so I'm always interested in what he has to say. I heard him say on national television that when the campaign is over (regardless if he wins or not) he was going to reward his two daughters with a dog! It seems to be an issue of his travels lately and how it would be difficult to add a pet to the picture. So this should answer any questions you may have about him being an animal lover?

He is at least responsible... He knows right now he cannot get a dog..

i would like to know how all the candidates stand on animal rights..

Not really.... if you really think about it.. all Presidents end up with at least one dog. Good PR...
