God only knows, animals need a strong advocate - and not just domestic animals. There are unspeakable cruelties perpetrated upon the helpless and voiceless creatures of this world, animals as well as people. Was it Ghandi or Schweitzer who said that the measure of a civilization is the way it treats the poor and helpless?
As a first do-able step it should be legislated that no domestic animal should be sold or adopted out without being altered with exception made for responsible breeders (if breeding can in any way be justified - with all the purebreds being put down in shelters).
Personally I am torn between Hillary and Obama - the one that shows a true concern for the plight of aniamls would get my vote.
