you can not really understand how death comes so quietly and how it can happen so unexpectantly. Chloe was just fine in the pasture with the other mares, and seemed content. We had a terrible storm, and when I called her the next morning, being one that was always on top of you when she heard you, she did not come right away. I thought maybe she was off with a new arrival. When we went to investigate we found her laying with a blown side, looked like a gunshot, but no evidence. she apparently had been running by the looks of her legs. the conclusion was, that she could have been hit by lightening, and almost instant death. so freak and so much a loss. the breeding behind the foundation of a great breed, king, pitchfork ranch,and years of cow sense and gentleness. She is greatly missed and her friends knew when we went to look for her, they stood off bobbing heads, and sniffing, death brings no friends and only sadness to her horse family. chloe, you are greatly missed.
