Tasha to the rescue!

When My husband and I lost our first doberman puppy, Java, at the age of 18 months, I thought I would never recover from the trauma. The sun rose and set on that perfect little puppy-girl and I was sooooooo depressed for a long while.
After some time, we heard about another doberman who had lost her human (she was 5 y.o.) and now she was homeless. I was still hurting from my first dog but agreed to meet the homeless dobe. After long discussion we agreed to take her into our home for the weekend and well...Tasha never left until she passed away in January of 2008 at the age of 13.5!
Tasha was SUCH a great dog and she taught us the value and indeed the necessity of adopting older, more mature dogs rather than adopting puppies. While it's true that you never know what's happened to an older dog in it's previous life, the issue really comes down to whether you feel like you have the confidence to tackle anything that comes along and learn from the experience.
Tasha was a great, great, great, great dog and we couldn't be more happy that somehow, the universe and/or God chose my husband and I to be the lucky ones who got to spend rest of her life with her.
I will miss each of my dogs over the years as they, inevitably, pass through my life but they each have their own indelible place in my heart.
RIP Tasha-girl! Mommy loves you so much and can't wait to see you again someday.

We are thrilled and in love with the two boys we have now and they were each, at their own shelter, running out of time. I can't even imagine that they would have been put down...simply because they existed in "excess". Our lives are so much more rich with Calvin and Brock in them. And my life was enriched by having both Java and Tasha before them.
I've been blessed by the animals in my life.
